A love affair...

Green Pixie Pollen

Since I was a little girl I dreamt of visiting Holland in order to see the world famous Dutch tulips fields in full bloom.  My mind becomes overwhelmed with the imagery of endless fields of rolling colors and perfumes. Unfortunately this year did not allow for a spring time trip to Europe so I decided to bring the tulips to my little Californian home.

I scoured all of San Diego for the perfect tulips. Pretty sure my neighbors think I am obsessed with flowers as I was walking home weekly with a different set of bulbs.

Each morning I watched patiently as the bulbs began to wake from their slumber and bloom right in my window. I had such a tremendous pleasure watching the tulips it dawned on me that it would be selfish for me not to share this beauty with others thus the extensive (at times obsessive) tulip project bloomed.

Tulips are beautiful flowers that fascinate me. How a dried bulb can burst into a dynamic flower that opens and closes each day just like we awake from a deep slumber.

When my family lived in Virginia when I was a young girl, we had squirrels living in the woods behind our house. Squirrels are mischievous by nature and would take it upon themselves to dig the bulbs out of the flower beds and move them for there own safe keeping. The next season the tulips bulbs would then pop up in the most unusual places... Like the middles of the lawn.
